Brandon School Division Supports for Parents and Students

The Brandon School Division is committed to supporting students and parents during this stressful period of time.

Helping children cope with anxiety requires providing accurate prevention information and facts without causing undue alarm.  It is very important to remember that children look to adults for guidance on how to react to stressful events. If parents seem overly worried, children's anxiety may rise.

If you notice changes in your child's behaviour, feelings, and thoughts or if your child is complaining about headaches/stomach aches, this may indicate that they are experiencing some anxiety regarding the current event.  If you feel they are requiring additional supports, you may contact Student Achievement Support Services through your child's school in order to access coping strategies, self-help strategies, school and community based resources, as well as someone to talk to.
