Science Literacy Week (September 18-24, 2023)

The week of September 18-24, 2023, is celebrated as “Science Literacy Week” across Canada.

Science Literacy Week showcases the many ways kids and families can explore and enjoy the diversity of Canadian science. Libraries, museums, science centres, schools and not-for-profits come together to highlight the books, movies, podcasts and events that share exciting stories of the science, discoveries and ingenuity shaping our lives.

This year’s theme is energy.  You can’t always see it, but energy is everywhere. It can be kinetic, thermal, chemical, radiant or nuclear. It lights our cities as electricity, heats our houses through thermal radiation, and moves our bodies with chemical reactions.
