Manitoba School Library Day (October 25, 2021)

October 25, 2021 has been proclaimed as Manitoba School Library Day. The theme of the day for 2021 is "Reconciliation and the Library Learning Commons:  Every Child Matters."

"School libraries in Manitoba play an important role in reconciliation as a place of collaboration and connectivity within schools.  They provide culturally appropriate learning resources for students, as well as professional development materials for teachers.  School libraries function as information-rich centres supporting literacy, inquiry, critical thinking, digital citizenship, diversity education and research in schools.  These active learning centres provide instruction and access to a wide range of traditional and electronic resources to support learning and curriculum implementation.”

In celebration of Manitoba School Library Day, schools are encouraged to participate in the "Drop Everything and Read" challenge sponsored by the Manitoba School Library Association.  For more information about the DEAR Challenge, please visit: Manitoba School Libraries Website.
